Join Local History Officer Michelle Campbell for a historic journey of the Heathcote Hospital site from 1929 to its closure in 1994. When Heathcote Reception Home opened in 1929, it was regarded as a place of modern and forward thinking in the practice and treatment of mental illness. Its placement, amongst trees overlooking the river away from the hustle and bustle of modern living was incorporated as part of the holistic care until the hospital’s closure in 1994.
