This hands-on art-making workshop invites participants to explore place-making through sculpture, experimenting with relief sculpting and modelling techniques to create their own unique plaster cast artwork. Inspired by the ‘sculptcrete’ urban installations of Czech-born architect Paul Ritter, Perth’s first city planner, participants will explore pattern and figurative composition, alongside ideas of public art making, to create their own artworks to take home.
This workshop extends ideas explored in the exhibition RITA 3: Fit for People, featuring the work of artists Deborah Halpern, Spiros Panigirakis, and Katie West, and the publications of Paul Ritter – inviting us to consider how artists and designers have shaped our shared spaces, and how art and design might shape Perth’s future.
Presented as a part of the Melville Storylines Festival
