ARTERY is a Boorloo-based ekphrastic magazine run by and for emerging writers and artists. Each issue features an art piece by an emerging Western Australian artist, which serves as a prompt for creative response from emerging Australian writers. With its intermedial focus, ARTERY promotes interdisciplinary dialogue and experimental writing practices.

Lucinda Tassone is an emerging multidisciplinary artist from Boorloo/Perth, who is currently completing a Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Fine Arts at The University of Western Australia. She was awarded the Minderoo Foundation Spirit Prize in the 2024 Lester Prize, has interned as a visual designer at UWA, and has exhibited at _____g.s and UWA seasonal shows, amongst others. She is the 2026 cover artist for Pelican Magazine.

ARTERY: no. 4 features creative responses from emerging Australian writers, to Lucinda Tassone’s oil on masonite collection I live for this, from her ongoing series Reels (2025–).

Through original, poetry, creative nonfiction, and experiments in-between, each writer offers unique ways of looking at Lucinda’s work. Characters from Lucinda’s paintings wander in and out of these responses, in a collection which asks how we evolve, love, and make art, in uncertain times.

I live for this, from Reels, is a visual amalgamation of the short-form content Lucinda encounters as a student who is chronically online.
