Through charcoal drawing and ochre painting – powerful ceremonial and cultural materials – Ilona considers the context of gallery and landscape. What can these materials teach us about how we unify amid dysfunction? Can we just start all over again? This is an imagined consequence of this country’s simmering tensions; a bitter explosion, charred from a hostile past, ignorant present, and this great Australian silence.
