Peter Ciemitis, Selga Esots, Gabrielle Mazalevskis, Maris Raudzins, Lolita Skye-Lark and Len Zuks

16 April - 22 May 2016

RAVEL explores the underlying question of ‘What is the point of drawing?’ Fundamentallydrawings are the first steps towards the final product – an explanation toone’s self, a visual reference of a concept - explaining the size, colour, shape, volume etc. Whilst a drawing can be done for its own sake, to be thefinal product, as is the case for some works here, it is often a stepping stonein a process (not meant for others to see). The final concept is the realobjective.

The drawing can be an instantaneous graphic translation of an idea to one’sself (a few simple lines), or to explain to others, in detail, the finalconcept. Whatever the interpretation is, drawing is a fundamental necessity.
